This novel is geared more toward junior high and high school girls. I consider it a Young Adult fantasy novel with huge dashes of mystery characteristics.

After learning that they aren’t human, Cassie, Diana, and Thomas are officially accepted into the magical world that Dillon has always known. Thomas begins training to be the very first mermaid seer by Elsie, a seer whose last assignment failed miserably. Diana comes along too, entering the Fairy Academy to learn about her own magic.

While the two of them try to find their way in the new realm, Dillon and Cassie search for more clues about their prophecy and the end of the warlocks. During their search, they find that the warlocks have been brewing a powerful potion that has been kept a secret for centuries. Talking it over with the other three, the five friends figure out that the potion may require an ingredient that the warlocks can only obtain from Cassie’s relatives, the sirens.

Ignoring her friends’ warnings and advice, Cassie decides to go into the ocean alone to figure out what the ingredient is and, just maybe, what the potion can do.  After succeeding, however, she is kidnapped by an inside spy bent on revenge. As Cassie struggles to survive while trapped in Zared’s domain, Dillon races against the clock to help Thomas master his powers while Elsie and Diana search for the traitor in their midst.

Because Elsie knows that it will take all five of them to save her…
